How has being a recipient of this scholarship influenced your perspective on higher education?

Being a recipient of a scholarship can bring about a shift in perspective towards higher education, instilling values such as gratitude, motivation, confidence, and a commitment to lifelong learning and giving back.

Were there any challenges you faced as a first- generation scholar and how did the scholarship support you in overcoming them?

As a First-generation-scholars facing challenges such as lack of familiarity with higher education, financial constraints, academic preparedness, and social adjustment. Scholarships can support them by providing financial assistance, mentorship, access to resources, and community networking opportunities to help me succeed in higher education despite my challenges.

In what ways do you hope to pay forward the opportunities you’ve received through this scholarship to future generations or within your community?

Receiving this scholarship has been an incredible opportunity, and I am deeply grateful for the support it provides. I believe that the best way to pay it forward is by using this opportunity to make a positive impact on my community and future generations.

How has the scholarship influenced your career aspirations and what impact do you hope to make in our chosen field?

Receiving a scholarship has significantly influenced my career aspirations by providing both financial support and motivation to pursue my educational goals. The scholarship alleviated the financial burden of tuition and related expenses, allowing me to focus more on my studies and extracurricular activities that align with my career interests. This opportunity has enabled me to engage in specialized courses and internships that are crucial for my professional development.

Moreover, the scholarship has instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment to excel academically and contribute positively to my community. I aspire to leverage my education to make a meaningful impact in my chosen field, whether it be through innovation, community service, or mentorship. I hope to inspire others who may face similar challenges and demonstrate that with dedication and support, it is possible to achieve one’s dreams. Ultimately, I aim to use my skills and knowledge to address pressing issues in my field, fostering growth and positive change for future generations.

How do you navigate the balance between academic commitments and personal responsibilities and how has the scholarship played a role in this?

It’s hard to navigate between them but with the help of my husband and my son they give me time to myself to do what I need to balance everything out. The scholarship has been helpful in so many was in a financial way and I’m so thankful for it.

Looking ahead, what advice would you give to Wingstop Team members that are future 1st generation scholars who aspire to follow a similar path?

**Set Clear Goals**: Define your academic and career goals early on. Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve will help you stay focused and motivated throughout your academic journey.

**Seek Mentorship**: Look for mentors who can provide guidance and support as you navigate the challenges of being a first-generation scholar. They can offer valuable insights, advice, and resources to help you succeed.

Is there any one you would like to recognize and thank for their support during your post secondary educational journey and how did their guidance shape your path? (parents, grand parents, mentors, etc.)

Jamar for supporting me in everything I wanted to so at work and helping me push myself to be a better person which in going to school and being the first person in my family to go. I appreciate him so much for standing by my side along with my husband and my son.
